Why is food so GOOoooOOOD?

Because it just is.

And sometimes I just need a treat. And TODAY I really needed a lunchtime-something-special. So off we headed to my favorite place Flour Girls and Dough Boys Bakery for lunch. Oh Sista'! Tomato Soup (DIVINE) and half of the Apple Walnut Brie sandwich to go. (I think I'm salivating right now!) Please tell me some of you take pictures of your food too! I'm not the only crazy one? And then because this bakery is LOADED with sweet niblets we had to get the famous Shortbread Chocolate Chip cookie. I gave a piece to Lucy in the car. Need I say more?!

$100? Nice.

Okay. So I am a big nerd. But my neighbor showed me how to "coupon" and I am addicted! I got everything you see for $120 by shopping grocery sales and using coupons! I saved over $100. Yay! I love saving money. Because it was a "Big" shopping day, I was stocking up on a lot of things. So these groceries will last me weeks and weeks. This lovely Ranch Dressing for .19.
These yummy Quakes: FREE.
Hotdogs? FREE
Whole Wheat Ritz? FREE too.
I love these websites: Pinching Your Pennies and Deals to Meals (this site shows you sales, how to stock up on 1 year foodstorage, weekly meal planners, and weekly recipes!) My neighbor is a hardcore couponer...she gets 6 Sunday Papers just for the coupons. I'm a light weight and only get one. But I still get great deals.

Good Gravy...We had Fun.

So the book fair was so FUN! Spence couldn't go because of soccer, but the girls and I had a grand time. Here the girls are with Brandon Mull, author of Fabelhaven and The Candy Shop War. He and his family lived in our ward in Thousand Oaks, back in the day. So great to see his success!
The girls did all sorts of kid-licious things like: face painting, bookmark making, puppetshows, prizes, free books, and having a caricuture created by a published illustrator.
Shannon Hale was very sweet to my girls and Grace was able to wax philosophical on her own writings. Grace also informed my friend Carol Lynch Williams that Grace has written 8 books to my 1. I know, she's fast! :)

Bravo to Provo City Library for putting on such a fabulous event!

We're off to the Book Fair....

So today, after soccer games, and the Father and Son Campout we're skipping down to the Provo City Library to celebrate books and authors and reading and fun. The kids are so excited! Spencer's very favorite author, Brandon Mull will be there (Fablehaven) and Shannon Hale (Newbery Award Winner for Princess Academy) will be there too...along with many other talents authors. Check it out here if you're interested. It's FREE. And we are loving FREE things these days, let me tell you! :)

Sharing

Awww...I just thought these pics were so cute. And in my opinion, Sophie is our best sharer. Lucy never misses a chance to beg for a bite whenever anyone is eating. She sits promptly on the floor if she thinks you may actually feed her what she wants.

Yay for Strawberries!!

This is always one of my favorite parts of summer! And by the way only 16 days until....it begins in earnest!

Grace's Big Break with Ann Dee Ellis cont...

Here is Grace. She likes to write and read. To hear what she has to say about, well, everything check out www.anndeeellis.com. Click on "Reader of the Week #10." And here is Ann Dee's most recent book: I think it's a great read for middle grade/young adult.

Renaissance Fair: Including Gracie's Big Break

All sorts of action is happening around our house like: Spencer and his KB24 Laker car at the pinewood derby.
And gorgeous Renaissance Princesses at the elementary school Renaissance Fair. Because they were out of these lovely ribbon crowns, Sophie scoured the fair and found one forgotten under a booth, and happily paid 25 cents for the VERY LAST crown. Tenacity sure pays off.

And our lovely Grace, who now is practically a celebrity because she was interviewed by our friend, and very talented local author, Ann Dee Ellis, for her blog. Grace is Ann Dee's official "Reader of the Week." Check out her interview here and I PROMISE you can't help but be entertained. (Bravo Ann Dee and Grace.)

And soccer season is upon us again. And even though we don't LOOK very excited, I promise we are. The soccer bug has bit us all. AW is Spencer's coach, so attending the games is like fun filled sports, along with a sideline comedian.
