Summer Birthdays:

Oh my, we had so much fun with birthdays this summer. Spence finally got Guitar Hero...and he was a happy boy. I made Spence and Lincoln a guitar cake for their birthdays. What cute boys they are...and of course some pics of Lucy...8mo on the 7th!

Fun Times Up the Canyon

Here's our fun trip up the canyon with Grandma and Grandpa.

This is a Flickr badge showing items in a set called AF Canyon BBQ with Grandparents. Make your own badge here.

Only a few mishaps...we happened to park it near a huge hornets nest...somewhere near the stream. And who was the causualty? Dear little Lucy...poor baby. Just sitting there looking cute when she was "attacked". We waited anxiously to see if she was allergic (since it runs in the family) and happily she was just fine. She's very brave...hardly cried. Now we know what she's made of.

And the other mishap. Well, Spencer is now missing part of his eyebrow, due to a burning twig accident. Swung by the very exuberant Soph. Fun right? I guess he didn't want Grandpa to feel alone. ha ha.

Back To School

Back to school...how sweet those words are to a mother of four...three off to school all day! The kids were just as excited as I was.

The first day went well, no one starved, got lost, or had a mean teacher. I think it's going to be a great year.

Can't help but love these first pictures with their first day of school newness and excitment. Lucy and I had fun at home. I actually could catch up on all the laundry...and make a menu for the week and few of our dinners. The silence at Lucy's naptime was golden. AHHHH.

Torn Map

I love this poem by one of my favorite poets, Naomi Shihab Nye. Hope you like it too!

Torn Map

Once
By mistake
She tore a map
In half.
She taped it back,
But crookedly.
Now all the roads
Ended in water.
There were mountains
Right next to her hometown.
Wouldn’t that be nice
If it were true?
I’d tear a map
And be right next
To you.

Summer's Over

We tried to make the most of this last summer weekend and explored Tibble Fork Resevoir up American Fork Canyon. They had just stocked the resevoir with 1200 rainbow trout...so there were a lot of people fishing.
Sophie found a very large and friendly playmate.

We also joined Adam's family at the Utah State Capital to view an original copy of The Declaration of Independence. The wait was 3 hours to view it up close, so we chose to view from a far! But, still very cool. Adam's dad told us some family history...that their relative Edward Ruttledge signed the Declaration of Independence...and another relative, last name Seuele was an indentured servant on the Mayflower. So, I guess you can say we've come along way since indentured servitude...well...maybe.

Grace's Baptism

Grace had a great day with her family and friends supporting her decision to join the church. She sang a beautiful song, When I am Baptized, with three other children who were baptized that day. And both sets of Grandparents (and Great Grandma Jane) were able to attend.
We're so proud of you Gracie!
