Did I Mention I Have a Two-Year-Old?

To all of you with two-year-olds, I say bless you. I am one of those fortunate few...and yes it is mostly delicious to be a mother of a wonderous, inquisitive, and determined child.

BUT

Today. Well, yesterday too. I just wonder...

So I have this cream. This very expensive eye cream that I keep in a very special place, for my very special 37-year-old wrinkly eyes...(pathetic, huh?) And I relish this cream. And I love it because when I put it on it makes me feel like the magic is working, smoothing out my getting-wrinklier-by-the-day-undereyes.

And today Lucy found it.

And now it is no more. Spread all over her hands and the counter and smeared all over terracotta tiles which do not particularly enjoy magic-making-eye-cream. For the tiles, it's just something greasy to clean up. My under-eye area was very sad. And so am I.

Boo-hoo.

Ears pierced...check

So since I don't have a replacement camera yet, I was looking around on line for a pretty generic photo of an ear piercing....uhm. My advice. Don't look for that :) It brings up all sorts of crazy piercing photos...and well. Just take my advice.

So I have no picture of Sophie in the chair at Claires, no in the chair/out of the chair/ in the chair/ no, now out, crying, holding her teddy bear, squeezing Grace's hand, whoops she's out of the chair and out of the store and determined NOT to get her ears pierced.

Wait. She's back. Determined to get ears pierced so she can wear sparkly panda bear earrings (in 8 weeks). But still she clutches those Panda Bears like they are her life line.

Tada! Sophie did it. (Whew). It was quite an event.

And Grace got her ears re-pierced, since about a year and half ago her earring was pulled almost completely out of her ear. OUCH. So they had healed and we did it again.

Do you remember when you got your ears pierced? I think I was 10? And I was definetly a drama queen. I screamed, I cried, and then I was eventually happy that I got them pierced. sigh. I guess I shouldn't wonder where we get all the drama in our house. :) So a right of passage has been completed. Two little girls are now trying to be big with new sparkly earrings.

Disney Adventure #1

Sooo...we just returned from the happiest place on earth...three decadent days with Disneyland and California Adventure. We stayed in a hotel, swam in the pool, rode the shuttle to and fro, and ate ourselves silly. Adventure divine! So why am I showing you stock photos of Disneyland when we ourselves, the White Family, graced the walls of theme park mecca?

Sigh.
Oh just one minor detail.

On the last night, amid fireworks, and numerous Thunder Mountain runs we lost our beloved camera. It was quite a blow. And I mean this in the complete literal sense. Why does one go to Disney? Well, to enjoy ones family amid laughter and thrills...but to also RECORD the whole beloved moment through numerous pictures and videos. Sigh. My stomach still hurts at the loss. We've called everyone we can think of...we think it's still rattling around on Shuttle #7 doomed to remain in a never ending circle of Disney Limbo.

So no adorable pictures of the family with Mickey, or Donald, or the lovely Mary Poppins. I can still remember every photo I took. Wish I could just hook my brain up to the printer and create the photos myself.
I must admit. I've been leaving hints to Adam about Disney trip #2, just so we can document it properly. I know. I know.

And PS...we also spent wonderful cousin time in San Diego with Terresa and her family. And we had a whole video camera fiasco there. But that story's for another day...only one crisis at a time.

West Meets East

My little Qatari children. Adam had business on the other side of the world...Dubai, Abu Dhaubi, Kuwait, and Qatar.

And now we have our own little Middle Easterners...aren't they adorable? I just love it!

Adam fell in love with these countries and with the people. He said they were so nice...Hope I get to go with him next time.

So I'm Trying to be Sneaky...

So I'm trying to be sneaky about this whole Easter Basket thing. Yesterday I took the baby with me while I purchased a few little odds and ends for the Easter Baskets. And I was determined to get something in particular for Lucy and then she found this:

Yes. Nemo. She is obsessed with Nemo. And the whole time at Target she would not let him out of her hot little hands. She traded everything she ever threw into the basket (because she does that now, we get all sorts of things in our basket) for the swimming Nemo (and it does say for 5 years and up, but really how could a Swimming Nemo not be for a 2 year old? Tell me how?) So...had to smuggle Nemo into the house...without disturbing the axis of the earth.

And I was successfull. REally. I was. And I hid it perfectly in my dresser drawers that are empty since I reorganized my closet. No one EVER looks in those dresser drawers.

Until today.

Lucy had Nemo ESP. How did she know? And I couldn't get it out of her hot little hands. Maybe the Easter Bunny should just come early? I am on Divert Lucy Mission #2. And I need a new hiding place!

(Oh and totally destroyed Sophie's dreams of the REAL Easter Bunny, because she wondered what Lucy was doing with a Nemo...oh and, she heard me talking to Adam on the phone about "getting all the Easter stuff done." Whoops).
